Christian Stewardship

Christian stewardship can be a very misunderstood topic.  Some people think that being a good steward only relates to their money.  This is clearly incorrect.

A steward is someone who manages someone else’s property.  While we’re alive on this earth, we have the responsibility of managing God’s property – we’re his stewards on earth.

The concept of Christian stewardship revolves around an understanding that everything we have on the earth comes from, and belongs to God.  With this realisation comes the responsibility of taking care of the things He’s given us.  It means managing our money wisely, but it also means looking after our possessions, taking care of people who have needs, and looking after our natural resources.

One of the exciting things about Christian stewardship is that it is forward looking – rather than being concerned with day to day living, it sees things from an eternal aspect.

What are your thoughts on being a good Christian steward?  What have you learnt?
